ENVIRONMENTAL PRODUCT DECLARATION (EPD)

Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) for Zinco Green Roof Systems

epd global logo Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) have been developed as a tool to transparently, independently, and comprehensively present all relevant environmental impacts of construction products throughout their entire life cycle, based on scientifically validated data. In addition, EPDs describe the functional and technical characteristics of products.

EPDs include information on energy and resource consumption, waste generation, and the extent to which a product contributes to environmental impacts such as climate change, acidification, eutrophication, ozone depletion, and smog formation. Providing transparent environmental information has always been a core commitment of Zinco.

Zinco’s first core EPD was valid from 2020 to 2025. During the verification process in July 2025, additional system build-ups and products were incorporated. As a result, life cycle assessment (LCA) data can now be provided for the majority of Zinco green roof systems.

Internationally recognized and verified by EPD Global, these EPDs represent a key component of building certification schemes such as DGNB, BREEAM, and LEED. They enable comparisons between products with the same function and provide an important basis for assessing the sustainability performance of buildings. By considering all relevant environmental indicators, EPDs make a significant contribution to a sustainable, resource-efficient, and responsible economy while also facilitating access to publicly tendered construction projects.
