No. 1 Poultry is situated in the City of London. The new building comprises mixed use retail and office space. A restaurant occupies the top floor including a rooftop terrace and roof garden offering spectacular views of the City skyline. In 1994 the old 19th-century neo-gothic building was pulled down and replaced by a postmodernist building with bold forms and colouring. A roof terrace and roof garden were added to the top floor restaurant offering a special location for commercial as well as private events. To establish such a green oasis in the middle of an urban centre a suitable green roof built-up was necessary. The multi-functional drainage element Floradrain® FD 40-E was installed as the core piece of the system, and was used for both the roof terrace planters as well as the roof garden outside the building roundel. The FD 40-E drainage element is suitable for extensive as well as intensive green roofs and provides an excellent water/air balance. Combined with the protection mat SSM 45, filter sheet SF and the suitable system substrate nothing stands in the way of long-lasting success.
